NIGHT days in Italy will be more lively because until December 28, 2010, museums and cultural destination in the whole country will be open until 23:00 pm local time, and free of charge on the last Tuesday of each month.

The initiative, called “Martedi in Arte,” is sponsored by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities aimed at promoting museums and other cultural institutions as well as offering an affordable alternative for a period of economic crisis.
Some places in Rome that participated include Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea, Terme in Diocleziano, Crypta Balbi, Palazzo Massimo alle Terme, Palazzo Altemps, Pantheon, Galleria d’Arte Antica – Palazzo Barberini, Galleria Borghese, and the Museo Nazionale in Castel Sant’Angelo.
Meanwhile, near Rome, the Villa d’Este and Hadrian’s Villa at Tivoli also will be open for visits at night. For more information, you can visit the site www.beniculturali.it.
